Cookies
Last updated: 22 January 2021What is a cookie?
A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser. Cookies are also used for the placement of advertising based on the user's interests and behaviour, and to control advertising content on our website.
What types of cookies exist?
First-party cookies: a cookie set by The Breed Archive (TBA).
Third-party cookies: a cookie set by a domain name that is not the domain whose name appears in the browser address bar.
Session cookies: temporary cookies that are deleted from your computer when you close your browser. We will use the session cookies to keep track of you whilst you navigate the website.
Persistent cookies: permanent cookies that remain stored on your computer until deleted, or until they reach a specified expiry date. We will use the persistent cookies to enable our website to recognise you when you visit and provide you with a personalised service, e.g. by storing your preferred language.
Which third-party cookies do we use?
Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”).
Google Analytics uses cookies to help the website analyze how you use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Your IP address will be truncated (anonymized) by Google before being transmitted to the US. Only in exceptional situations will your full IP address be transmitted to Google servers in the United States and truncated there. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.
Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting information (including your IP address) via cookies and processing this information by downloading this browser plugin and installing it: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
We place Google Adsense advertisements on our website, a digital advertising service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”).
To personalise advertising and/or content for you in other contexts, such as on other websites or apps, over time, Google and their technology partners collect data and use cookies. If ad personalisation is off, Google will not collect or use your information to create an ad profile or personalise the ads that Google shows to you. You will still see ads, but they may not be as useful. Ads may still be based on the topic of this website, your current search terms or on your general location, but not on your interests, search history or browsing history. Your information can still be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising and protect against fraud and abuse.
